Philips Xenium X800

Posted on 24 May 2008 by Ditto

Philips Xenium X800 Reviews

Earlier last week, Philips officialy announced the release of its newest e2e ( edge to edge) touchscreen smartphone called Xenium X800. Boasting its full e2e touch screen design, this phone seems like another iPhone wannabe.

The X800 features a large 2.9-inch touch screen with 262k colors and resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. Other notable features include a 2-megapixel auto-focus camera, microSD slot, and Bluetooth. It is reported that the Philips X800 will run the new platform, developed by Philips. Among the characteristics mentioned phone support for Office documents, extensive multimedia capabilities, camera, FM-radio, Bluetooth and WiFi.

If this phone is real, much will depend on how well the touchscreen works and how well the touch UI is implemented. Which is no easy feat, as many iPhone wannabe’s can attest. Unfortunately as of this writing, the X800 release is only limited in China only. Looks like the only way to get it is to wait until they sell it on Ali Baba, China’s very own Ebay.

Samsung F400

Posted on 22 May 2008 by Ditto

Samsung F400 Reviews

Earlier this month, Samsung released its newest slider phone, the F400, designed optimally for music playback and digital photography. So is this slider phone just as the same as others, which certainly also provides music playback and digital photography ? Not exactly, because the Samsung SGH-F400 incorporates technology from Bang & Olufsen and has a dual-slide arrangement that reveals a loudspeaker for optimum music playback. This compact dual slider phone delivers high fidelity sound tuned by Bang & Olufsen (B&O) and ICEpower audio technology via a slide up speaker that uses an adaptation of Samsung DNSe technology, creating a 3D sound effect. The Samsung F400 also contains the SmartBass™ system with full digital amplifier.

This dual slider music phone designed to bring top quality music and that’s why the company joined forces with legendary engineers at Bang & Olufsen. Samsung F400 ha ICEpower technology by Bang & Olufsen; Smart Bass provides rich, deep and powerful sound, and Smart Limiter ensures an audio signal to not exceed the amplitude of the threshold.

Mobile photography is also made easy with the Samsung F400 which contains a 3 megapixel, unlike the 2MP of the F330, CIF camera with flash and uses a 2.2” 262K QVGA (262K colour) screen. Packed with a microSD slot that supports up to 4GB the Samsung F400 truly combines the needs of today’s consumer into one multifunctional device. It is a great multimedia mobile phone that can be appreciated by even those who are not into music much. Of course with the B&O touch, the Samsung F400 is really considered by the general public as a great music phone.
