The Olympus E-420 is, according to Olympus, the world’s smallest digital SLR, though it weighs a few grams more than the E-410. It is noteworthy that the camera now has contrast detection. It looked like an ideal choice thanks to its small body and lens and affordable price.
The Olympus E-420 is small enough to fit into a purse or a jacket pocket and light enough to shoot with comfortably all day. Measuring 5.1 inches by 3.6 inches by 2.1 inches (excluding protrusions), it is the world’s smallest digital SLR. It is the successor to one of our favourite DSLRs of 2007. The earlier E-410 was a very stylish camera with dimensions which allowed it to squeeze into bags and pockets that would be out of the question for most DSLRs.
The Olympus E-420 will be available this coming May 2008 at $499 body only or $599 for the standard 14-42mm lens kit. Hopefully this will encourage other players to come out with their own line of affordable DSLR’s for trigger-happy consumers .

The Nikon D300 is a very interesting digital SLR camera on paper and as far as I am concerned it is one of the most important introductions these days. It has more features than I know how to use, guess its time to take a digital photography class, and is ready to shoot all the time. It images are studio flash at ISO LO1 (100) and 200, tungsten exposures from 400 to 6400 (all with NO noise reduction) then 6400 at Low, Normal and High NR.
The Nikon D300 D-SLR camera boasts a self-cleaning sensor unit, which vibrates at high frequencies to remove any loose dust on the surface of the sensor’s optical low pass filter, and has recently become available and is receiving a lot of attention since then. It digital SLR EXPEED system features 14-bit analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion with 16-bit image processing, both of which contribute to delivering results with Nikon’s signature ‘look and feel’ of rich accurate colours, smooth skin gradations and exceptional detail. It is the latest prosumer model to pass through our review lab. The Nikon D300 is the successor to the hugely popular D200 DSLR camera, and Nikon certainly haven’t rested on their laurels, adding a veritable wealth of features to their new mid-range model, and is a midsize digital SLR that’s built like a tank — mostly.

The Nikon D300 is loaded with the latest professional technologies designed to produce images of the highest quality. It has detailed control over white-balance including automatic white-balance, preset white-balance , manual white-balance and color-temperature, and is no different but unlike the live view features you may have seen in other brands, Nikon actually provides two live view modes for greater flexibility. It camera without the additional MB-D10 grip is small and lightweight, only 1.8 lbs.
