The Key Variations Between Lcd And Plasma Tv

without comments

One of the first high definition televisions on the market was the plasma TV. This was the first type of flat screen televisions available. Plasma is still a popular high definition viewing choice as it has almost no image distortion and produces one of the best pictures. Many people appreciate and prefer a plasma television over an LCD TV.

Plasma comes with a wide range of features and types of televisions. You can also use a plasma television in many different ways whether it is for presentations, to connect to your computer or just to watch movies at home. The technology behind the plasma use cells found between two layers of glass. These cells are filled with noble gases and when electricity is present the gases turn into plasma.

Each cell contains different phosphors that will provide the correct balance of red, blue or green light and produce the picture on the screen. If you look very close you may even be able to see the individual cells. All of these cells really functions like and individual light bulb. LCD technology is completely different.

The color is due to different phosphor that is in each cell. These phosphors produce red, blue and green colors and when the electricity is on the color is balanced to create a picture. This type of technology is only used for plasma as LCD TVs use another type of technology to create the image.

While LCD and plasma televisions are not as expensive as they once were the plasma television still has the slight edge over the LCD for affordability. They are available in much larger sizes and are very reliable. These types of large screens are what are used in sporting areas and other large displays.

However the larger plasma televisions do consume a lot of power. When comparing capacity and production costs the plasma TV is still the most affordable.
