Laptop Shopping Help
Laptops are often closer to some people than their parents are. Okay, a very small portion of us, but even if you don’t like your laptop as much as your parents, you still are most likely pretty close to it. Buying a new laptop can be confusing and a little off-putting, so we’ve put this guide together for you.
That new laptop purchase can be stressful and cause all kinds of indecision when the fateful day comes to purchase one. To help you make a choice you can live with we’ll have to look at three key factors in laptops; the size of your new monster machine, how you will use it and the overall cost. If you can decide on those three things, you have that pony broke.
Screen size is usually one of the big deciding factors when thinking about what size of a laptop you will be purchasing. Screen size also has a direct impact on keyboard size. Some people need a bigger keyboard, while for others it is a small matter of preference. A full-sized keyboard will pretty much only be found on the bigger screens.
Weight is another factor. Some of the earlier laptops were pretty massive and often weighted up to twice what the current average is. Still though even just a 3 lbs difference can be noticeable. The reason for thinking over the difference is about portability. An 8 lbs laptop is something you don’t want to necessarily backpack across Europe with, but is fine for home use.
Functionality is probably what you should be looking at in a laptop. If 90% of the processes you are going to be running are going to be running are going to be documents and things of that nature, you don’t need the huge, big daddy quad processor. If you are a gamer then you will never get any of what you need out of a $500 machine with a low end duo core processor. Them’s just facts Junior.
Functionality goes directly to the processor and RAM. This is the core of your laptop. Make sure when you purchase your laptop that the RAM can be upgraded at a later time. This will help your little wonder run a lot faster when you decide it’s not running fast enough, and eventually, no matter what you buy, you will decide you want it to run faster.
Price factors into everything. You are obviously not going to get a huge machine for $500. There are some pretty good deals out there, but nothing that huge. A $500 machine will get you onto the internet and let you do some gaming, but nothing as intense as World of Warcraft will ever run at optimum. However one of these laptops will kick tail when it comes to managing your small business or emailing grandma. The higher end machines will go for a cool grand or two. The Trump model s of gaming computers can run as much as a used car. So there is some play in there as far as price goes.
Whatever you decide on your new laptop, have fun with it! This is an exciting thing and very much something that is to be researched and thought over. Stay with a reputable dealer and think about what you want before you begin actively shopping. Stick to your guns baby and have a good time.
