The Samsung LN52B750 52 Inch LCD HDTV – A Great Centre Piece For Any Living Room

without comments

Buying an HDTV means making a decision about something that will dominate your living or TV room. You’ve got to look at things like picture quality, how well it fits your living room dcor and a few other things. We recently experienced the Samsung LN52B750 52 inch HDTV, and after rearranging our living room, the response was an unmitigated “Wow!”

Wide Screen Magic

We mentioned the size of the thing – it’s got a screen that’s more than four feet across diagonally – this translates to about 44″ wide by 28″ tall, and is a stunning theater like feel. You can mount it on a table, but we recommend a wall bracket to put it up at the right height. The system has multiple picture modes that can be used to tune how it looks in your living room and to work with however much lighting you may have for it. In terms of display, they have it running at 240 Hz, which makes for a very sharp, fluid picture.

Clearer and Sharper Images

Like nearly every fully HD capable TV made in the last four years, this one does screen resolutions of 1080 lines per inch on progressive scan – this is called 1080p resolution, and is the highest broadcast standard of screen resolution available. The result is a fantastically clear display.

TruSurround System

This model also has a in-built surround sound system, which enhances movie watching experiences. In my opinion, there is no need for an external home theatre system. Nevertheless, the Samsung LN52B750 works well with external home theatre systems if you really want to crank up the volume.

Preloaded Content Library

We were a bit dubious about a TV with onboard storage coming with an onboard content library; usually this means whatever video or such that they could get cheap. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the video games that came with, and there’s a nice workout video. However, being able to access a good video of how to set up the system was nearly priceless to us. Still, once we got it hooked up, they couldn’t compete with the Wii.

Medi 2.0 Features – An HDTV and A Personal Computer

The digital convergence has been promised in home entertainment for over a decade now, going back to the WebTV. Fast forward, and it’s still being promised, though the delivery is getting better. The Samsung LN52B750 has the ability to work within your internet connection and let you browse multimedia on the large screen, from YouTube to Flickr Accounts. While I personally don’t see any real benefit to showing YouTube video on a screen this large, it does hold promise for things like NetFlix On Demand. The system is also pretty good for listening to music – Pandora comes pre-loaded.

Futuristic Touch of Color Design

A lot of TVs are attractive on the show room floor, but a bit out of place in a typical living room. The Samsung is neutrally colored (black and charcoal gray) so that it will blend with most home dcor. It’s kind of nice to not have to worry about whether the television set will clash with the drapes or the paint on the wall; too many big screen television designers are trying for the ‘fashion designer excess’ effect.

We can recommend the Samsung LN52B750 heartily. I’d recommend checking it out at a local shop first, and then weigh the differences between a professional installation and having it cheaper online before buying.
