What You Should Expect With Kid’s Cell Phones

without comments

At my age, we didn’t have cell phones, so my parents were spared the decision to get me one of these devices. Nowadays, parents have a lot of decisions to make regarding what their children get, as technology and the pressure to have more has advanced. While you don’t want your children to grow up too fast, there’s a lot of pressure your children put on you and others put on them to have cell phones, computers, and video games.

These are all devices that children absolutely adore. Since your children are getting cell phones at earlier ages than before, you have to decide when it is time for your child to have a cell phone, and when is too early. One thing to consider is your child’s safety and well being; they’ll be able to get a hold of you more easily with a cell phone. However, it’s very likely that your child will use their cell phone for their friends more than for you. You have to decide for yourself what age is too young for someone to have a device like a cell phone.

Right now there are dozens upon dozens of different cell phone models for adults. You can get the most basic phone or one that comes with a camera, GPS capabilities, MP3 player, and Internet access. If you are in the market for phones for kids however, you will find that there are not as many options to choose from. Cell phones made for young children come with very basic features and none of the added gadgetry.

While your child probably wants them, they’re not necessary for them to have yet, and the simplicity allows them to use it more easily. Despite the lack of features, some aspects of kid’s cell phones make them safer, like filtering out unknown numbers, and the ability to speed dial people, like their parents, more quickly in case of an emergency. Basically, you’ll have a much narrower range of choices for your kid’s cell phone than you do for yours, making it a lot more simple to pick one that will work for them.

When it comes to phone plans for kids phones, the prepaid ones might be the best option. Although prepaid phones and prepaid cell phone plans exist, there are not nearly as many as the regular ones. Cell phone companies don’t really have to put that many prepaid options out there because people are so used to spending a monthly fee. The phone companies would rather have you go with a regular monthly plan over a prepaid one because they make more from you. But if you want a plan for your child, you probably are better off with a prepaid phone especially in the beginning.
